Shlok Panchal
I build machine learning systems for medicine.
I am a final-year Biomedical Engineering + Health Sciences student at McMaster University. My research interests include clinical decision-making, cardiovascular health, and the use of physiological data to improve patient monitoring and risk prediction. Through this work, I have contributed to multiple publications and presented research at national and international conferences.
Recently:
- Building AI systems for clinical decision-making and simulation at Harvard Medical School
- Developing machine learning and foundation models for transplant outcomes using large-scale multicentre clinical data to improve patient care at Toronto General Hospital
- Building AI-powered clinical simulation, assessment, and agentic learning systems for health professions education and training at the Temerty Centre for AI Research
- Co-hosting AI-Med Amplified, a podcast featuring leading clinicians and researchers, and
co-directing MedSprint, Canada's largest biomedical hackathon
Outside of research and school, you'll usually find me running, playing classical piano, hiking, or planning my next hike— currently training for Kilimanjaro.
I've always believed that life is a collection of learnings. The people we meet, the challenges we take on, and the experiences we pursue all leave us with something worth carrying forward. In trying to better understand the world, I've been fortunate to meet remarkable people and build friendships that continue to shape how I think. If you're reading this, I'd love to hear your story.
